System Topology & Architecture

The Shelly 1L Gen4 Relay operates on a compact embedded microcontroller platform that handles power monitoring, trigger pin states, and wireless mesh coordination locally. With built-in zero-crossing switching synchronization, contact arcing is minimized during inductive and capacitive load cycling. It supports independent switch input modes, letting wall rockers function as decoupled smart scenario triggers.

Mesh Relay Node

Acts as an active protocol repeating station extending localized IoT range across domestic switchboards.

Zero-Crossing Sync

Prevents inrush voltage arcs on capacitive driver circuits during high-frequency switching operations.

Local Key Storage

Stores network security tokens on hardware-isolated non-volatile microchips for offline safety.

Installation Guidelines

Designed specifically for standard flush mounting backboxes with minimum 40mm depth. When installed without a neutral wire, a minimal 20W bypass load or optional bypass accessory across the load terminal ensures clean micro-current harvesting for the internal logic board. Always verify phase isolation at the circuit breaker before opening wall plates.

  • 01Isolate line breaker upstream prior to touching any backplate electrical terminals.
  • 02Connect neutral and phase wiring following standard 1.5mm² solid-core copper recommendations.
  • 03Push configuration button once to broadcast commissioning beacon over localized radio mesh.
